Frog Baby Apps provides a distribution outlet for faculty and student created mobile apps, videos, and electronic publications with a streamlined administrative process.
  • Content Creation: Consistently produce award winning stories (narrative shorts, documentaries, cinema quality distance learning content, etc.), innovative apps (iOS, Android and Windows), websites, electronic texts (iBooks and Adobe DPS), and physical interfaces and objects (kiosks, 3D printing and rapid prototyping) for on campus partners. In 2013, produced over 360 minutes of high quality video content for online learning including a cinema quality Film Noir MOOC.
  • External Partnerships: Office researched and advised the Indiana State legislature on its transition to an electronic process, designed the current award winning IN.gov, and created the first Garfield iPhone game.
  • Educator: Designed, and managed an online curriculum that supported over 600 students in its last semester. Patiently worked through the academic process to implement this innovative digital skills curriculum.
  • Relationship Building: Built a reputation for the unit and Ball State locally, nationally, and internationally leading to extensive requests for thought leadership, innovation, and support from the private and government sectors.
  • Student Success: Created a successful student employee training system that provides Digital Corps students with the skills, experience, and culture of a “coast style startup environment” before they graduate; all within the existing higher education structure and an experience otherwise unavailable in the local area.
  • Entrepreneurship: Responsible for Frog Baby Apps LLC, a for-profit company 90% owned by Ball State University. Developed IP from an external contract and later to a private company. Mentor numerous fledging students companies including Rumr which was funded for $800k by Google and others.
  • Awards: Office creative projects have won 4 Tellys, 3 Pixies, a W3 Award, Communicator Award, and a VEMA.

  • As of Fall 2013, 187 students had gone through the Digital Corps. 100% were employed or in graduate school with 80% employed in their field of first choice. (See the Digital Corps stories page at vimeo.com/channels/digitalcorpsstories).
  • Designed and implemented an interdisciplinary pre-professional training program for 25-35 students as part of a grant from the Lilly Endowment.
  • Created a tripod model: depth of skill in an area, breadth of skill to facilitate collaboration, and soft skills to be an effective employee.
  • Students had 100% employment at graduation working across the country for companies such as MTV, Sesame Street, Branding Brand, and the New Orleans Hornets in video, design, and development; or acceptance into graduate school.
